Just finished our newest video on preparing Matcha green tea. We had the honor of hosting Rebecca Cragg from Camellia Teas of Ottawa in June to demonstrate the Japanese Tea Ceremony. During her visit Rebecca offered a demonstration on how to prepare matcha green tea. Please enjoy Rebecca’s elegant teaching as she gives a brief instruction on making matcha green tea. The new Digital Kettle Pro offers what most tea connoisseurs have been dreaming of, a digital tea kettle. Until now, the only option in variable temperature kettles available in the US is Adagio Tea’s utiliTea Kettle. I’ve been glad to see that this new kettle boils rapidly, under 7 minutes for 1.4 Liters. I like the fact that it beeps when it reaches the set temperature, which is a feature none of the other electric kettles offer. Overall, a great kettle, offering an easy to read digital readout that shows the current temperature of the water. Unlike most tea kettles, it keeps the water hot, fluctuating around the temperature you’ve set, up to 212°F.

Drawbacks: We”ve had several customers complain that the metal strip that shows the water level falls out. This is disappointing and is a manufacturing flaw that needs to be redesigned, however, it doesn’t affect the functionality, so it’s not a big deal; it can be removed and discarded. Also, the instructions could be improved for users.

Overall: This is a great kettle for those needing a tea kettle that will boil water to the specific temperature you desire. If you just need a kettle for black tea or herbal teas, you probably don’t need to invest in this. If you are a specialty tea drinker and enjoy steeping all sorts of loose leaf teas, especially delicate white teas and Japanese green teas, this kettle is what you’ve been waiting for.
