Kelly Filgo & Ellen Hampton get Engaged @ Tea Embassy

Just days before Christmas, Ellen Hampton and Kelly Filgo came to Tea Embassy and enjoyed more than just tea with their Tasting Cups…they ordered Breakfast Treasure and Cream Earl Grey and sat on the front porch and are now engaged! Congratulations y’all! This is the second time (that we know of) that two lovers have become betrothed at the Tea Embassy. Tea Embassy’s own Jonathan & Amy got engaged under one of the trees in the back yard. Stay steeped in LOVE this year!

Jonathan’s Birthday Teas: Golden Pearls, Drum Mountain Clouds & Mist, & Peppermint Herbal Tea

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Co-owner of the Tea Embassy, Jonathan Sims, is celebrating his birthday today! “I selected some of my current favorites for everyone to enjoy today,” says Jonathan. Come by and taste these teas for free!

Golden Pearls is a great breakfast tea for those looking to drink a rich, smooth, almost chocolate-ty cup of tea. This black tea comes from the Yunnan Province in China and has a beautiful irregular rolled appearance, with brown and black coloring. Yunnan is known for its teas that are sometimes referred to as the “‘mocha of teas.” This is also the same province where Pu-Erh tea comes from, the earthy, sweet tea that is actually fermented.

Drum Mountain Clouds & Mist (Gua Shan Yun Wu) green tea comes from China’s high mountains, offering a light, delicate, sweet melon taste but a complexity that is beautiful. The Clouds & Mist teas are generally darker as a dry leaf, due to the tea plant’s production of more chlorophyll because of the lack of light in the cloudy environment. This is Jonathan’s new favorite green tea!

Organic peppermint leaves make a wonderful evening infusion to drink after dinner or before bed. Naturally caffeine free, these peppermint leaves come from Washington and have an extra bold flavor for an invigorating cup of herbal tea.

Today’s Teas: Jaimisi Tea, Fog Tea, & Sunrise Herbal Tea

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

We are starting off the New Year by offering some great teas today! A naturally grown black tea from Manipur, India, an organically grown green tea from WuYi China, and a tasty herbal fruit tea with grapefruit and orange flavor. Come by and sample these teas for free!

Jaimisi Tea comes from Manipur, India, not far from Assam. This hand-crafted, naturally grown, black tea is a great breakfast tea, offering a bold, full-bodied cup of tea, similar to a blend of Assam (malty & sweet) and Darjeeling (green & muscatel or wine). Steeping time at only 3 minutes 15 seconds is all that is needed to enjoy it.

Fog Tea

Fog Tea

Fog Tea: Grown in the mist and fog of the southeastern mountains of China, this organic tea has the richness of a Japanese green tea, yet the more subtle notes of a great Chinese green tea. The fog makes the tea more green with chlorophyll, adding richer notes to this unique tea. A wonderful tea for those tasting green tea for the first time.

Sunrise Blend has a fragrant aroma of grapefruit and orange, making this naturally caffeine free fruit herbal tea a wonderful citrus blend. Blend includes Apple pieces, carrot flakes, blackberry eucalyptus leaves, beetroot pieces, hibiscus, lemongrass, flavoring, freeze dried tangerine-orange pieces, & orange slices. This is a great tea for the Winter season while grapefruits are in season!
